Brief history:

• 1996 : agreement of the consortium of the Universities from Cluj to implement a high performance metropolitan network
• May 1997 : Romtelecom Cluj makes the project
• December 1997 : on a bidding basis the fibre optical cables, accessories and equipment are purchased
• July 1998 : on a bidding basis the constructor is selected (TELECONSTRUCTIA Cluj)
• September 1998 : by Cluj branch of the RoEduNet Administration, the Ministry of National Education supplies the funds for execution
• December 1998 : reception of the infrastructure
• January 1999 : testing and setting up the network
• November 2003 : testing and setting up the Gigabit link for Technical University and Babes-Bolyai University
• May 2004 : testing and setting up the Gigabit link for Agricultural Sciences University
• May 2004 : testing and setting up the Gigabit link for University of Medicine and Pharmacy
